Or will Michael bend to Powers greater than him?

5.0 out of 5 stars Love all the interconnected parts

The book is well written. A lot of coincidences are interconnected to each other in the end. Sometimes, I think some coincidences should be just that. But that's more of reality, and I enjoy the structure of this fantasy. I've loved rereading this book. Thank you!

Good but could’ve used more humor and less politics. A quirky sidekick would’ve made this more entertaining in my opinion.

4.0 out of 5 stars solid

I’m enjoying the series so far. Been sifting through a bunch of trash stories. So reading one that actually keeps me interested is refreshing. Not the most amazing story but solid for sure.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good read

It’s kept my interest and will continue reading the next book. It did tie all themes at the end. I’m looking forward to see how the story continues to evolve along with the main character.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Series

This series is turning out to be a hidden gem. Books one and two have both been five stars, a rating I don’t give out easily. While we still don’t have a complete picture of who the hero is, we are starting to understand how the game works and who the players in the board are. Progression continues to be rapid, perhaps even faster than in book one. Rapid pacing and excellent editing continue to be hallmarks of the series. I have not been able to put it down since I started book one the day before yesterday.

5.0 out of 5 stars A refreshing read.

I enjoyed the world development and game play.. While some of the advancement and power development was familiar, other parts were new and refreshing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice.

I enjoyed it. The MC didn’t feel impotent despite being at a disadvantage in most scenarios. It wasn’t because he was OP either, he used his skills and brains, which was a nice change of pace. I enjoy OP hero’s, but a clever one is even more gripping. Adds more tension.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good book but protagonist doesn't loot 100%

Micheal knows about gamer things and the most gamer thing is to loot anything you can take with you. But despite having multiple opportunities to sneak around and do that, he ignores them. What he may find may not always be what he needed, but it just might help and that might should always be followed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic LITRPG

But still has its own unique everything. I have enjoyed this book so much. I haven't listened to the audio yet, the character sheets might get a bit long at times but they are easy to skip past if you aren't interested. Can't wait to read the next

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent enough sequel, just a few things that began to irritate...

Volume 2 is much like volume 1, maybe a bit too much. Michael exchanged a dungeon for an open air forest, but he is still stuck and still needs to work to get out by manipulating the people around him as much as defeating opponents in a direct fight. My likes and dislikes for the book are otherwise the same, except for two things. The behaviour of the random monsters was inconsistent, one moment they fight to the death as in computer games, the next they retreat when they realize their prey is too strong for them. Secondly, Michael's personality is beginning to grate a bit. It is consistent (except for when his supposed gaming knowledge applies and when not), but for a supposed wolf is he is remarkably anti-authoritarian and unable to work with others. It is the author's world, but somehow this clashes in particular for me. Michael acts more like a solitary cat than a wolf. Still, I enjoyed the book, but there were just a few too many grating moments for me to make it a 4 star review.

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent for genre but

The writing is good as far as grammar and spelling, but too many tropes and sticky points for me. I dislike fights where people dance. Usually it's expressions like "he danced backwards". I always picture the combatant doing some hip hop footwork around the fight. This book has it even worse, where the MC is engaging someone with short swords one second and then dancing forward to strike them the next. Also the characters use language they just wouldn't. No one says scion in real life, and especially wolves is they could talk wouldn't. There's lots of stuff like this. Plus the enemies, although called smart, are all just passive players in this massive scheme the MC has going. Lots of people probably like this, and that's fine, but it's not for me. Like, did he watusi four inches? I mean c'mon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid second outing

It is hard to follow up with an exceptional book after initial presentation of ideas, but Mr. Elliot has done it. The story is complex, but only because of its simplicity in linear thinking. The reader gets to explore the main characters abilities, along with the character. I’m not one to give ratings, but I felt it was appropriate for this.

3.0 out of 5 stars Murder hobo

Basically, he kills everyone. It would great if the story had some character development or interpersonal relationships. He doesn’t know or like anyone. All relationships are fleeting, so in the end… who cares. No characters or villains you can identify with… just a gamer murdering things.

2.0 out of 5 stars The plot armour is thick

The MC seems to get through challenges that he just shouldnt because either he has a stupendous amount of plot armour, and/or literally everyone that is hostile towards him is apparently really really dumb. Very mild spoilers ahead. As an example, he takes on 2 players ~double his level in a fair fight, and just....avoids all their attacks, because of 'instinct'. Instinct is not an ability, he hasnt used a rare item that he found through some difficult quest, he didnt have any awesome plan that took preparation, he just...decided he didnt want to get hit by their attacks. Of course this meant that one enemy was SO CONFOUNDED that they let him stab them once he had flounced his way through their attacks, making the fight a 1v1 against only a single enemy twice his level. ezpz. I had been a bit annoyed by how he had just breezed through what should have been almost certain death multiple times in a row before this, but this encounter just made me put the book down.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best in it's genre in recent memory

I'm a regular cultivation (not this) and litRPG reader. Hundreds of stories between kindle and RoyalRoad. This one is straight up good. I binged both books in a total of 3 days. The writing is just excellent. The story is well paced, the MC is likable despite being a loner, and most of all THE STORY PROGRESSES. No dithering or expose for 20 chapters, no suddenly becoming OP and every fight being easy. Well written, believable, story driven LitRPG with enough hidden question to keep you reading. Quote me, if this author keeps this quality for a couple more books, it'll go down as one of the best in the genre.

5.0 out of 5 stars A twisted adventure

This is a good continuation of the first book. The plot progression was well paced and the right amount of unpredictable. I enjoyed the characters, and the descriptive violence. I'll be reading the next in the series for sure.

4.0 out of 5 stars entertaining but i had some small issues with it

My main issue is, how come no one else seems to have healing potions. I dont want to go into too much detail and reveal too much of the story but MC seems like the only one to have them.

5.0 out of 5 stars better than alot I have read recently

A pretty good read, although it did drag on for quite a bit in some places, which made it a biut dry. I felt a bit more like the training montage before the main adventure though, which isn't a bad thing, I just want to read the next book already.

5.0 out of 5 stars Refreshing and original

This book was exciting and progressed very well. It's one of the more original concepts in the genre abs the story is exceptional so far! The only thing I'm left wondering at the conclusion of both books is the origins of the MC. It's seems to pay little to no part in the story, but that could easily change. Anyhow exciting stuff, give it a read. I think this will appeal to a wide audience in the genre of Litrpg

5.0 out of 5 stars Good book

Overall, great setting! My only criticism is that some of the big reveals were heavily foreshadowed and were relatively apparent. This made the protagonist's reaction to these reveals seems artificial and overdone. Other than that, very excited to see where this series goes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent series... can't wait for the next book

I'm very impressed with The Game and Way of the Wolf. Excellent worldview, development of plot, unpredictable plot, creative use of a "game" environment. Most importantly, Elliot creates a set of characters who are mature without the duplicitous sex that seems to permeate more juvenile books, and a set of actions that demonstrate the author's ability to think beyond the current events and project what will be needed to plot future interactions. His creative use of Abilities, Skills, and weapons are well-thought-out. I can't wait for the next book. Highly recommend this series!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Stuff!

This is a well thought out progression from the first book. The plot thickens, the protagonist struggles believably to advance his skills, if a bit too quickly. Great magic system in place. Another solid win from Tom Elliot. His style rings through to his other series, Dragon Mage. It is worth the read. Couldn't put it down.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun read with enough twists to keep it interesting

I enjoyed the first book and this book did not disappoint. If anything, it ensured that I'll be sticking close to this series because I like the direction that it's moving! My only complaint is that the Dire Wolves on the cover really should be much bigger than they are. When that's the only complaint that I can come up with, that implies that the writing is damned good and VERY entertaining!

5.0 out of 5 stars Now I Have To Wait For The Next Book

The first book in the series was excellent, but the second book was even better. The author has become one of my favorite authors after only writing two books, something only Robert Jordan has ever accomplished in my long career of reading Sci-fi and fantasy. Continued great character development and a great story line. No really noticeable editing errors. Great quality book

5.0 out of 5 stars Very happy customer

I went into the first book skeptical as I read some reviews saying he makes silly decisions but I'm here for them whatever they were. You can't progress in a fantasy/Litrpg without taking risks and one of them went so well I'm still gaping at the MCs audacity. Where is the third I need it.

4.0 out of 5 stars fun read

The 2nd book in this series was pretty fun. Tom’s writing is still a bit on the amateurish side, but it’s clear that he’s getting better with the craft. Here are a few notes: 1. The plot’s a bit screwy. Most of the plot drivers are fairly well set, but it feels as though whenever Tom’s not sure how to initiate a specific plot progression he has the MC do something silly, for no real reason. I think Tom knows it’s an issue as well, because the MC points out that he’s doing something foolish and sort-of tries to explain to himself (and the audience) that he wouldn’t normally be so foolish but for his curiosity or an instinct or his roguish sense of adventure… The end result doesn’t cause me to like the plot, or the MC less, but it does end up eroding the perceived danger. After all, the MC seems to feel like saying his curiosity is worth possible death, then why would I be worried? 2. The book has a rather abrupt ending. Without going into details, one of the MC’s to-do list at the end of the book gets taken off the list due to a Deus ex machina type event that is only barely acknowledged by the MC. It’s a bit weird and makes the ending feel a bit rushed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun Series

This book continues the MCs journey from book one. No spoilers. Two things I enjoy about this series is the fact that the author doesn't use plot armor to save the MC, the MC makes rational decisions where possible. The other thing about these books is that there's a ton of good content. Not short books, and you really get to settle in and go places, if that makes sense. Well written, great action.

5.0 out of 5 stars Interesting

Ok I will admit this story has its up and downs. First I read reviews early mentioning about how it made no sense that the MC could solo people 20 levels above him. Well it makes sense if you think about it with every level you only get one attribute point. And so far you can't just try up those stats. So you would need a much bigger gap in levels than just 20. Now my problem I had with the last book in the series. This book made the MC a lot less dumb and than the last book. I mean in the last book he literally found a key and a lock door within 3 or 4 page and it took him about a page to connect them together to open said door. So yes I like the book and give it a try.
